About our campsite

Possibly the smallest campsite in Cornwall, but perhaps one of its best kept secrets for traditional camping with a few extra niceties.

Nestled within the old reservoir garden in Ludgvan, the site is less than an acre of grassed paddock and wooded glade with picnic area, garden and views of St Michael's Mount and Trencrom Hill.

Facilities include mains water, two washing-up areas, posh compost toilets, hot outdoor shower under a leafy canopy and a family sized changing-room for drying and dressing.

There is an open campfire area for eating and socialising around.  The site has no electricity, save for a few solar lights, so torches are essential, but a lack of artificial light enhances the nocturnal display from stars, shooting stars and satellites.

The paddock comfortably allows for 5-6 pitches, keeping the site small and friendly with a maximum of 12 to 18 individuals staying over.

This year we also have our campsite cabin for a maximum of two persons to rent.
It provides solid wooden bunkbeds and basic furniture, no heating, but access to all the campsite facilities.
There is a lovely local pub, The White Hart, just 2 minutes walk from the campsite, a Spar shop 15-20 minutes walk down the hill and Higher Trenowin farm shop 5 minutes drive up the road towards St Ives. There are also Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsburys supermarkets, all only 10 minutes drive away towards Penzance and a Lidl at Hayle and bottom end of Penzance.

The walk, St Michaels Way, goes right through the village square between the campsite and the pub and if you love gardens the Sculpture Gardens at Tremenheere are a pleasant 20 minute walk away. Tremenhere Kitchen restaurant is also a scrummy eatery.

We are on a bus route from St Ives to Penzance, with easy access to the main A30 trunk route for cars. Or take a bus or car to St Erth and ride a scenic train journey from St Erth to St Ives.

The old chartered town of Marazion and St Michael's Mount are only 1-2 miles away. Marazion offers good food, a delicious deli, galleries, a bakery, clothes shop, post office, general store, several pubs and a causeway to walk to the Mount!

Ashfarm campsite is centrally located in west of cornwall with easy access to all the local beaches and beach activities, surfing school, kite surfing, paddle-boarding, canoeing and just about every other recreational sport, whether you like cycling, horseriding, tennis, golf, cliff walking or just exploring our ironage villages, quoits or stone circles.

There are some spectacular gardens locally, the Minack theatre, art galleries a plenty, including the Tate at St Ives. Penzance and St Ives both have cinemas, leisure centres with indoor swimming pools and gyms and Penzance has an outdoor saltwater pool. Hayle has Paradise Park for the kids with both indoor and outdoor play and an outdoor freshwater Lido.

Ashfarm campsite is also perfectly placed for accessing either boat or plane to travel to the Isles of Scilly.
